Meet Your Speech Therapist

Caitlin Smoler M.S. CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Hi there, welcome to Itsy Bitsy Speakers! I’m Caitlin, your go to person in helping your child achieve their goals. I specialize in some awesome parts of my field including Speech and Language delays, Articulation and Phonological Disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, feeding, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Gestalt Language Processing, Early Intervention, and Stuttering. I have a variety of experience in different settings including early intervention, school systems, and private practice. I like to take a play-based approach to therapy because having a little fun equals big results. I enjoy collaborating with parents and caregivers to ensure that every child gets the individualized attention they deserve. I am confident that I not only have the skills and trainings but the passion to take on any challenge that comes our way. Lets work together to get your child communicating with confidence.

What makes me the right fit?

My various certifications and trainings make me better equipped to tackle any issue that comes my way. Take a look into some trainings I have done over the years:

Sensory Speech: In this training, I was able to gain background knowledge into how to implement sensory needs in my therapy sessions. When a child feels regulated, they will be more ready to take on the day with me.

Tiny Tongue Tips: A Simon Says Speech early intervention Myofunctional Therapy program. Focusing on a play-based approach to teach proper facial and oral postures to children at rest, during speech, and when swallowing.

TalkTools TOTS & Speech: A course focusing on tethered oral tissue remediation.

Bye Bye Bottles: This training provided me with tools to assist families in bottle weaning with added tips and tricks. This is something we can tackle together around the age of one.

Ultimate Play Based Speech: In this training, I was provided with a new outlook on the play based therapy approach. I was given the resources to better implement play and floor time into my sessions for added success.

Early Intervention Academy: This training provided me with all of my background knowledge on the Early Intervention population. After taking this course, my passion for working with little ones had grown even more.

Natural Language Acquisition for Gestalt Learners: In this training, I was provided valuable skills and tools in order to better equip myself in working with the GLP population.

Feeding Trainings: AEIOU: An Integrated Approach to Pediatric Feeding, Solid Starts: Purees to Solids

Thumbs Up: A Simon Says Speech course focusing on remediation of thumb sucking habits.

Prompt Level 1: A 3 day course in which I was provided with the tools to provide PROMPT therapy to my children who need a little extra tactile support. PROMPT therapy focuses on a hands-on approach to manipulating the oral motor cavity to move the way we need it to in order to produce certain sounds. Beneficial for CAS.

DTTC Introductions: In this training, I was introduced to Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing. Another great approach to help children produce the sounds they are having difficulty with. Beneficial for CAS.

SLS certification: With a Speech Language Specialist certification I am able to work inside various school settings.
